Signing In to SME System
How to sign in, sign up, and manage your SME System account access.
This guide covers everything you need to know about accessing your SME System account.
Creating Your Account
Sign Up
- Go to smesystem.co.uk/auth/sign-up
- Enter your email address
- Choose a strong password (minimum 8 characters)
- Click Sign Up
- Check your email for a confirmation link
- Click the link to verify your account
Email Confirmation
After signing up, you'll receive a confirmation email. Click the link inside to activate your account. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.
If you need to resend the confirmation email, return to the sign-in page and click Resend confirmation.
Signing In
Standard Sign In
- Go to smesystem.co.uk/auth/sign-in
- Enter your email and password
- Click Sign In
- You'll be redirected to your dashboard
Forgot Password
If you've forgotten your password:
- Go to the sign-in page
- Click Forgot Password
- Enter your email address
- Check your email for a reset link
- Click the link and enter a new password
- Sign in with your new password
Changing Your Password
Once signed in:
- Go to Settings → Security
- Click Change Password
- Enter your current password
- Enter your new password twice
- Click Save
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
We strongly recommend enabling 2FA to protect your business data.
Enabling 2FA
- Go to Settings → Security
- Click Enable 2FA
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, or similar)
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Save your backup codes in a secure location
Signing In With 2FA
When 2FA is enabled, signing in requires two steps:
- Enter your email and password
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Settings → Security
- Click Disable 2FA
- Enter your password to confirm
Signing Out
To sign out:
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Click Sign Out
- You'll be redirected to the sign-in page
Session Management
Active Sessions
View all devices where you're signed in:
- Go to Settings → Security → Sessions
- Review the list of active sessions
- Click Sign Out next to any device you don't recognise
Session Timeout
For security, your session will time out after a period of inactivity. You'll be automatically signed out and will need to sign in again.
Troubleshooting
Can't Sign In
If you can't sign in:
- Check you're using the correct email address
- Try resetting your password
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Disable any browser extensions that might block cookies
- Try a different browser or incognito mode
Didn't Receive Confirmation Email
If you don't receive the confirmation email:
- Check your spam or junk folder
- Verify you entered the correct email address
- Wait a few minutes — emails can be delayed
- Try resending the confirmation from the sign-in page
Account Locked
After multiple failed sign-in attempts, your account may be temporarily locked. Wait 15 minutes and try again, or reset your password.
